about

'My eyes are saying that I want to stay with you, you are the jewel of my heart.’ A love song from the 1968 Pakistani film, Jumma Janj Naal. The song here reworked in a slow drop D electric guitar and drum kit groove. It has the flavours of Raga Darbari which is serious and emotional. It twists in descent and is best played deep into the night. Originally sung by Noor Jehan.

lyrics

written as phonetically as possible

Kehnde ne naina, teray koal rehna
Meray dil da, dil da tu hei gehna

Teray binh cheyn nehi aunda
Tu milay cheyn mil janda
Maahi vay, chan vay, teinu hoar kee meh kehna

Jee karay koal bethi rah
Beyth beythi mei takdi rah
Khushiya, lakha, tera mil behna

Aaj ikraar karni ah
Meh teinu pyaar karni ah
Dukhra, tera, kyuu nehi mei sehna
